2022 Series Details & Updates (new mod for Summer Trophy Series).

Post by V8T Admin »

The V8Thunder Admin Team is pleased to announce the details for the upcoming 2022 season.

As per usual, the year will be split up into 3 Championships, Spring, Summer and Autumn, the year long Cup Series will continue to run the full 36 races over the course of the year alongside the 3 Spring/Summer/Autumn Trophy Series.

Friday Lites Series:
Fridays will continue to be the home of the Lites Series open to L1 to L3 license holders, for 2022 it has been decided to use the CTS physics, during 2021 the GNS mod was used for Lites and the Monday night series, and this has been converted to CTS physics specification and will be used instead, named the V8Thunder Lites mod. So essentially the cars stay the same, but with CTS physics. We decided to do this so that all the existing paints that had been uploaded and used during 2020 and 2021 could still be used, nearly every paint has been converted so before painting a new car, check that your existing car is not included in the mod download, if it is, feel free to use that. Lites will continue it double header fixed setup format at each track with race analysis on Race 2. The series will start this Friday, 18th February 2022, at Daytona.

Monday Truck Series:
Mondays will now be the home of the Truck Series, as per 2021 the series will use the same track and setup combination as the Friday Lites Series and be open to L2-L4 license holders, however it will use the CWS2015 mod from Team Om3gA and not the previous CTS mod from PWF, unfortunately this does mean new paints will be required. This series will be a single race per round with race analysis. The Series will start Monday 21st at Daytona.

Wednesday Trophy/Cup Series:
Again as per 2021, the Trophy/Cup Series will run on the Wednesday evening, open to L3 & L4 license holders only. For Spring 2022, the series will officially use the MENCup2019 mod until the Summer 2022 when it will likely switch to one of the newer NextGen mods, a guide will also be provided for a DIY migration before then if needed. As per 2021 there will be no stage breaks on ovals however road course events will be run yellows off and stage breaks will be included. Full details of the other changes to the Cup Series can be found here. The series will start Wednesday 23rd February at Daytona.

Schedules:
As per normal, the Trophy Schedule will as best it can, follow the real NASCAR Cup schedule and where possible, use the real weather used during the real race. The Lites and Trucks will dovetail this every two weeks and on alternate weeks run at alternative tracks, and use Clear 70F weather in all events.

License upgrades & numbers:
Any L1 driver who raced in the Winter Series consistently has been upgraded to L2, this comes with the provision that if you receive a race ban in the Truck Series within your first 4 races, you will be demoted back to L1 again. There has been no L2 > L3 upgrades as nobody at this license level competed consistently enough in the Winter Series. If you are unsure of your license level, you can look it up here. Similarly if you did not race in either the Autumn 2021 or Winter 2022 series, you have lost your number allocation and will not be listed on the driver page, if this is the case and you intend to race this year, please PM Ian-S

Teams:
Any Team driver or Team Name changes must be made known to the admin team before the Lites Series on Friday, if you want to run under a Team name but continue as an independent, please let Ian-S know the details and we will make sure this is done, running as a single car team does not exclude you from the Independents championship unless you want to be listed in the teams standings.

Penalties and Rules:
The league rules have been updated to take account of the series changes for 2022, some new rules have also been added, it is essential that everybody reads the new rules before their first race, as some are major changes to on track procedures including a requirement to be connected to the server at least 10 minutes before practice, and if you connect after this time you can still race but you must not post a qualifying time, for your convenience, all the new stuff is marked in red. Similarly the penalties have also been updated and in some cases clarified, a couple of new penalties have been added as well with changes being marked in red too. Like the rules, please read the updated penalties yourself to be familiar with them. In order to keep the work of the Penalty Appeal Board to a minimum, drivers will be limited to 3 appeals per season and can only appeal Medium Penalties.

For clarification, all incident that involves a member of the admin team who may be doing the analysis themselves, will be judged on by an independent third party, no member of the admin team may do analysis on an incident that they are involved in.

Final note on field sizes:
At V8Thunder our main priority will always be the Trophy/Cup series, this is the series we exist for and has been the backbone of the league for many years, the Lites and Truck Series were bought back from hiatus as an alternative support and rookie feeder series to help new drivers learn during the Covid Pandemic. Since in many places Covid Restrictions have being wound back, we've seen a reduction in the numbers of new members joining and existing members racing, we understand that not everybody wants to race 3 days a week now, but we also don't want anybody to be under the misconception that a particular series will always be here for when they get bored with the pub, so should the field size of either support series consistently drop into single figures, these series will be wound up and shut down with the drivers loosing out being moved across to the other series, none of the admin team wants to close down series, but it can get pretty boring if only five people are racing each week (we've been there before) so if needs must, the decision will be made and priority given to the Trophy/Cup Series.

We look forward to seeing you on track soon, if you have any questions, please feel free to post a reply here.
If you wish to appeal a Medium penalty, please send it to Ian-S, it will get dealt with quicker.
Please ensure appeals meet the requirements and note that Minor or Major penalties cannot be appealed.

Summer Trophy Series Mod:
To confirm that from the first round of the Summer Series the Trophy Series will switch to the NCS22 mod. There is no need to rush out and paint a car as a "basically painted carset" will be included in the download. Further details to be posted soon.

If you want to continue running MENCup2019, instructions on how to do this will also be provided.
If you wish to appeal a Medium penalty, please send it to Ian-S, it will get dealt with quicker.
